Payroll Giving

Give As You Earn is the UK’s number one payroll giving scheme.  It’s one of the easiest ways for employees and pensioners who are paid through PAYE to give regularly to charity – plus it’s both flexible and tax efficient.  Because your donation is taken from your salary before tax is deducted, it costs you less and the Inland Revenue gives us the tax it would otherwise have kept.  The examples below illustrate the advantage to individuals of giving to charity via Payroll Giving.

£5.00   (£3.90)             £10.00 (£7.80)             £20.00 (£15.60)

The figures in brackets show the actual cost to you assuming you pay tax at 22 per cent.  This is because the tax you would normally pay is donated to the BKPA.

What to do next

You will need to authorise your employer (via your payroll or accounts department) to deduct regular charitable donations from your pay.  Your employer then pays these donations to a Payroll Giving agency approved by the Inland Revenue.  The agency then distributes the money to the BKPA. If your employer does not currently offer Payroll Giving, they can get further information from the Inland Revenue website www.hmrc.gov.uk/payrollgiving/employers or the Charities Aid Foundation website  www.cafonline.org

How do I know that the BKPA has received my donation?

Providing you have been in touch with us and given us your address, we will write to you as soon as we receive a donation in this way.
