BKPA holiday support on BBC South Today
Mike Murray, from Southampton, was keen to visit South Africa for his 95 year old grandfather’s birthday, but was unable to afford the cost of the visit as he would have to pay for dialysis abroad. Luckily for Mike, the BKPA stepped in to help and provided funding of £1,000 towards his trip, making the visit possible.
Mike is just one of many kidney patients benefitting from our holiday fund scheme. The BKPA is the largest provider of holiday grant aid for kidney patients and families who are unable to raise the necessary funds. Every year we fund over 350 short breaks and holidays for kidney patients.
For patients wanting to visit relatives in the UK, the BKPA also supports the Dialysis Swap Scheme, a scheme which helps patients dialyse in other units around the UK.
