Grant information for hospitals

How to apply for financial aid

If you're a healthcare professional working with kidney patients and you're looking for financial support for a new project or piece of equipment or funding for a medical post you can apply to the BKPA for a grant.

It is important however, to remember that the BKPA will normally only consider applications for which funding is not available from the hospital trust or other relevant authority.

In the past few years the BKPA has funded:

  • new paediatric unit facilities
  • new teenage transition facilities
  • the posts of a renal social workers, renal counsellors, an occupational therapist, art therapist, hospital play specialist and clinical psychologists.

The BKPA looks to fund projects and equipment for which there are clear benefits for children and adults affected by kidney disease. We work to improve the quality of life of all kidney patients throughout the UK.

Applications to be considered at the BKPA’s next quarterly meeting must be received no later than 2nd April 2012

PLEASE NOTE:

1   Applications must be typed and not handwritten.
2   For applications where a project includes staffing requests, a separate 'Application for a grant to fund a post' form must
be completed for each post in addition to the 'Application for a grant for project or equipment' form'.

How to apply for patient centred research grants

The BKPA is now supporting multi-disciplinary patient centred research in collaboration with the British Renal Society. Research grants are given to a wide range of health professionals working with kidney patients, including dieticians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors and social workers, as well as clinical scientists and nephrologists. The research undertaken is particularly important as a means of researching best practice and practical solutions for kidney patients. Each year around five or six projects are selected from all applications and each one is subjected to a rigorous process of peer review.
