Hi guys!
Going through a bit of a tough time at the moment. Just been discharged from the RVI in Newcastle. Im 18 now and im having a bit of a problem with the transition from childrens to adults. I have a condition called cloacal anomaly and require a gynaecologist (spelling?) urologist and a nephrologist.
My urology was down at Great Ormand Street in London, they didnt even bother to close my case and help me to decide where to go for urology. I see a gynaecologist at St. James' in Leeds and the renal side of things is taken care of by the renal team at the RVI in Newcastle, which is still childrens.
Anyway, one of my nephrologist has said that i have to go to the adult team now, but my nurse and other nephrologist said that i can stay untill ive finished my education. I think theres obviously been a break down in communication here!
From what has been said throughout recent events my mum and i get the feeling that noone really knows what to do with me, this doesnt fill me with confidence so how do they expect me to make a decision about where i want my future care to be?
Its getting me really down and we dont know who to turn to. Ive been experiencing pain in my kidneys for a number of years now, when i have a UTI and even when i dont. Renal function is fine and the transplant is still working fine apart from scarring on the upper pole. That is my nephrologists only concern but constantly been in pain is getting me down and i'm sick of been referred from one person to the other. I just dont know what to do!
If anyone has any advice, please, please get in touch with me. Please ask further questions if you need to. |
