About us
The British Kidney Patient Association is a well established charity working to improve the quality of life for adults and children with kidney disease.
Our charity was founded in 1975 by Elizabeth Ward, after her 13 year old son was diagnosed with kidney failure. Since her retirement, the valuable work of the BKPA remains in the hands of a small and highly dedicated team of individuals with many years of experience.
We provide support, information and financial assistance to patients and families at any stage of life, when dialysis or transplantation is underway, and kidney disease is having a serious impact upon daily life.
Everything we do is focussed on improving life for kidney patients. What often sets us apart from other charities is the level of financial support that we can give to patients, families and kidney units during times of financial difficulty.
