BKPA Grant Application Form - Please click here to download a copy of the BKPA Grant Application Form pdf, which must be completed by a Renal Social Worker.

Before a grant can be considered the Association’s grant application form must be completed by the patient’s renal social worker and sent to us at the Association’s address and providing the need for financial assistance has come about because of the patient’s renal illness, help can be given for a variety of reasons. For example:

Education
Books & materials
Computers
Board & lodgings
University & college fees
Educational trips (UK and overseas)

Domestic
Heating bills
Clothes & bed linen
Funeral grants
Telephone installations & rental (excluding the cost of telephone calls)
Sheds for storage of CAPD supplies
TV licences

Travel
Travel costs for hospital admissions & clinic appointments
Contributions towards purchase of car (providing the patient will be able to maintain the car thereafter)
Driving lessons (providing the patient has regular access to a vehicle within the family for practice
prior to professional driving lessons and access to a car after passing the test)
Car insurance

There are many other ways in which we can help, and only a few where we can’t, so we advise you to try us, we can only say ‘no’ and very seldom do, providing there is a genuine need.

The areas where we are never able to help are:

Items which are permanently fitted in a patient’s home such as:
Shower installations
Boilers
Central heating
Stair lifts

Or any other items which could be considered a home improvement.

We never reimburse patients for bills already paid and never pay loans, credit card commitments, etc.

We never pay court orders, court fines or telephone bills

Once a patient has been successfully transplanted, it is very seldom that the Association is able to give financial assistance. However, in the case of the rejection of the graft, travel costs to hospital can be considered.

Please note that all grants are discretionary and dependent on income. Grants in excess of £100.00 can only be made payable to a retailer, company, etc. and not to an individual.
